On December 3rd, 2011 in Worcester, MA, USA over 100 people joined in celebration of global resistance to climate chaos and for local resilience and real solutions. While projecting images from the streets of Durban, activists from Providence, RI and Worcester, MA presented their actions from throughout the past year since our joint 1000 Cancuns event on Dec. 7th, 2010. The actions included: holding a full day “Eco school” with Movement Generation, a 5-week “We’ve Got the Power” Community Organizing Training Series, a two month Community Environmental College, a Green Solidarity Economy Conference, a Protest at Stop & Shop with the Coalition of Immokalee farmworkers, the creation of a new community garden in the housing development Plumley Village, retrofitting a diesel bus to run on waste veggie oil and become the “Green D(RI)VE)”, a tree planting with Friends of Buckland Park and an Urban Adaptation Forum. Groups involved in the event were English for Action, EJ League of RI / ECO Youth, DARE, Worcester Roots Project / Toxic Soil Busters Co-op / Youth In Charge, Stone Soup, Future Focus Media Co-op, Worcester Energy Barnraisers, Worcester Green Jobs Coalition, Ciclovida. We concluded by taking a large group photo with the 1000 Durbans Poster projected on the wall behind us. We also Celebrated Ciclovida tours in Brazil, US, and Guatemala. La lucha sigue!
